When Michael Obermire talks about Jessup University, it’s clear that this institution is much more than a job to him.

“Being at Jessup,” he says, “feels like coming home.”

After more than three decades in industrial engineering, operations, sales and executive leadership, Obermire followed what he now sees as a God-directed path into higher education. Long corporate days gave way to a desire for family, purpose and impact. “When you look back on it,” he reflects, “you can see doors opening and closing, all leading me right here.”…

“The Latin word from which we get vocation is vocātiō, which means ‘calling,’” explains Reverend Dr. Marilyn Williams. “In Christian vernacular, vocation refers to God’s call on someone’s life to something that person is particularly gifted in or drawn to.”…

Multnomah University and Jessup University share roots that reach back nearly a century. Founded in 1936 and 1939, just years apart, both institutions began with the same calling to provide Christ centered education and to prepare men and women for lives of ministry, leadership, and service.
