Discovering Peace in our Good Shepherd

True peace is found in relationship and communion with Jesus, the Good Shepherd.

Psalm 23 has changed my life over the last 18 months, and I want to share with you the points of this passage that have brought tremendous peace to me.

As you read and meditate on this truth, I pray that the peace of Christ will help you abide in the truth and guide our souls to rest in the care of the Good Shepherd.

Jesus is our personal Shepherd who knows who we are and our needs.

“I shall not want, He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.”

He is a providing Shepherd. He places us in positions of abundance and refreshment.

“He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.”

He is a pardoning Shepherd. As sheep, we tend to stray off His path, way, and design. As He leads us, we find protection and restoration of our souls.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they comfort me.”

He is a protecting Shepherd who protects, cares, and walks with us THROUGH tough times.

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”

He is a preparing Shepherd. He is a God who serves us, who provides a feast for us when we are surrounded by difficult circumstances.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”

He is a promising Shepherd. There is no doubt that we, as believers, are secure in His loving care and goodness. We can rest assured that the Good Shepherd has come to Earth to feed His sheep, leave the 99, and lay down His life for us.

During this Christmas season, I pray you encounter the Good Shepherd in such a way that HIS peace will saturate your life and be a witness to those around you.
