GIVE TO FUTURE DIFFERENCE MAKERS
In the summer of 2023, I arrived on scene to a man armed with a gun, barricaded in a house that was not his home. High on narcotics and suicidal, he began shooting at officers. It was clear that without a compromise this situation could end in violence or life lost. Negotiating with him on the phone for eight hours, a connection was made when he started playing worship music. I began to sing along and when asked what it would take for him to come out of the house peacefully, he stated, “Will you pray with me?” And I did. The man surrendered that day with no one hurt.
God is always transforming lives. He transformed mine and equipped me during my time at Jessup for service as a canine officer. As a police officer, I often show up on the worst days of peoples’ lives. While at times this is a heavy burden to bear, I feel honored that God is using me to make a difference in my department, community and in the darkest places of our world.
I was recently on campus and noticed this slogan on the Welcome Center door, “You Were Meant to Make a Difference. We’ll Get You Ready.” That statement couldn’t ring more true as I believe that Jessup emboldened my faith. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of staff, faculty and donors who poured into my life – spiritually, academically and financially.
As the calendar year ends, I would like to personally ask that you consider making a gift to the Jessup Fund. With your support and prayers, the lives of Jessup students will continue to be transformed, just as mine was a few years ago.

University Endowment
Endowed Scholarship funds may be named for or after the donor or in memorial of a friend or relative of your choice. A gift to an endowment fund is significant and perpetual for the carefully selected men and women of WJU. An endowed scholarship may be established through a generous gift of $25,000 or more.
