Karen Fancher, D.I.S.
Biography:
Dr. Fancher has served as a bilingual teacher, missionary, professional counselor, Dean of Students, Professor of Global Studies, and Vice President of Academics. She integrates the disciplines of education, biblical studies, professional counseling, and intercultural studies, as she seeks to support holistic development of students. Her greatest joy is to walk with students who wholeheartedly invest their lives as humble learners and who seek to be instruments of hope and healing.
Dr. Fancher has been shaped by opportunities to engage in various global contexts; including as a student in Mexico and Spain, a missionary in Argentina, partnering in supporting leaders in South Sudan, and studying peacebuilding in Sarajevo. An emphasis of her research has been related to community-based approaches to promote support and healing for those impacted by the trauma of war. She seeks to support church and community leaders to be catalysts of hope and healing at the grassroots level. Her current passion is to grow in understanding and engaging in the process of peacebuilding between individuals and communities.
As Vice President of Academics she has the privilege to support faculty as they teach students to develop professional skills, and grow in knowledge and biblical wisdom as a foundation for their life journeys.
