Dylan Neal’s got Skin in the Game
From the moment he stepped onto campus as an undergraduate, it was clear that Dylan Neal had both the drive and potential to pursue a meaningful career in medicine. Guided by mentors who recognized his aptitude early on, Jessup’s faculty provided thoughtful direction toward the medical field and coached him with care focusing on maintaining the strong academic rigor and performance required for medical school. That foundation of support and discipline paid off. Today, Neal serves as a medical, surgical, and aesthetic dermatology physician’s assistant (PA) in Rocklin, California.
A native of Orangevale, Neal graduated from Casa Roble High School where he was a member of the golf team, starting the sport at 14 years old, golfing with his dad. Just a year into the sport, he developed a sun allergy causing him to break out in hives after any sun exposure. Understandably, it was a difficult time for him, forced to take a hiatus from the sport while he tried a variety of methods to overcome the adverse reaction. From juicing and diet modifications to later finding relief in more holistic methods, Neal was able to resume the sport he loved, later coming to Jessup as a transfer student on a golf scholarship.
When it came time to declare his major, kinesiology and exercise science was an easy choice as he always enjoyed working out, learning about the skeletal system and how the human body moves and adapts to physical activity. He was also influenced by his brother who is a physical therapist.
At Jessup, Neal excelled in his science courses and especially benefited from the small class sizes and the one-on-one conversations he regularly had with his professors. “What I liked best about the program was that students were able to take control of what they wanted to learn more about,” he said. “For example, if you wanted to focus more on research, you could do that. My experience was that the program was geared to your interests versus the more common text book regurgitation approach to learning.”

After graduating from Jessup, Neal went on to earn his master’s degree from UC Davis in PA studies and became a certified PA in 2021. He later received medical and surgical training from Stanford Dermatologists and world-class Mohs procedure surgeons in the Bay Area. He was the first of two PA’s selected to train in this extraordinary fellowship at the California Skin Institute.
Opening in early 2025, Rocklin Dermatology is a thriving practice known for compassionate care, clinical excellence and access to care for all patients. Neal works with Medical Director, Dr. Anna Chacon, a board-certified dermatologist and continues to build on the legacy of guidance and hard work that initially shaped his journey. Neal particularly enjoys performing outpatient procedures and is honored to share his surgical expertise to improve the lives of his patients.
Typically seeing 20-25 patients a day, building relationships is at the forefront of Neal’s determination to help his patients feel seen, heard and cared for. “In my practice, I want to provide a level of care and treat others how I want to be treated,” he said. “So often, patients have to wait months for a specialty dermatology appointment. We do our best to see our patients as quickly as possible and get them the care they need sooner than later.”
He recognizes that his faith also plays a big role in the medical arena. “Giving back is important,” he said. “It’s easy to do that when we remember that we are all children of God.”
Neal is married to his high school sweetheart and the couple reside in Rocklin. They recently celebrated 10 years of marriage, have two girls, and are expecting a son in January.
