Jessup University Granted Full NCAA Membership
Members of Jessup University’s leadership team were greeted with joyous news from the NCAA membership committee on Thursday morning. A waiver to complete Jessup’s three-year NCAA provisional membership in just two years has been approved, granting Jessup full NCAA membership status, effective immediately.
As a full member of NCAA Division II, Jessup University will be eligible for all PacWest and NCAA postseason events moving forward.
Jessup University President, Dr. John Jackson, offered his comments on the monumental announcement. “Jessup has shown an extraordinary capacity to win. We are grateful to the NCAA Membership Committee for this affirmation of our readiness to move into full membership.”

Additional benefits of Jessup’s full membership include voting rights on proposed NCAA rules and legislation, as well as access to the complete catalog of NCAA branding assets. Student-Athletes will now be eligible for NCAA All-American honors, and Jessup teams will be eligible for regional and national rankings.
As a provisional member last year, Jessup was ineligible for NCAA postseason awards and competition. The university competed in the postseason as a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). With the news that Jessup’s waiver has been approved, the university has announced that it will not renew its NCCAA membership moving forward.
Jessup University was initially granted provisional membership in the summer of 2023. With that came the acceptance from the Pacific West (PacWest) Conference for Jessup to begin active membership in the 2024-25 season. The Warriors completed year one of provisional membership in the 2023-24 season, the final year of NAIA membership for Jessup. In the summer of 2024, Jessup was promoted to the second year of provisional membership, which included the right to compete as a Division II institution.
The 2024-25 season was Jessup’s first in the PacWest and Division II.
During the Warriors’ provisional membership, Jessup has been actively working with the NCAA to meet all deadlines and fulfill the requirements for full membership. Members of the NCAA membership committee have visited Jessup’s Rocklin campus numerous times. Jessup’s administration team has also traveled to NCAA conferences and regional rules seminars. The university also completed its first compliance manual, which was submitted along with other needed documents to the NCAA.
“This has been a ‘team sport’ and we are excited to now compete as full members of the NCAA D-II due to the hard work and dedicated efforts of our Athletic staff,” added Dr. Jackson
Three Jessup teams finished the 2024-25 season with a record good enough to qualify for NCAA postseason competition. Now that Jessup is a full NCAA member, those teams will be eligible to compete in the conference, regional, and national tournaments.
