A Message of Thanks and Leadership Update
Dear Jessup Community,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am writing to share that after 15 years of faithful service as President and most recently as Chancellor, as of March 31, Dr. John Jackson is stepping away from his leadership role at Jessup University.
We are deeply grateful for Dr. Jackson’s leadership during a significant season in Jessup’s history. Over the past decade and a half, Jessup experienced meaningful growth in enrollment, programs, and reputation. The university is known and respected in our region in large part because of his steady commitment to our mission and to students and their families. Under his leadership, Jessup expanded into innovative and in-demand fields that benefited students and community partners, including programs such as Nursing and Aviation, along with growing programs in the areas of Business, Psychology, and the Arts.
We want to thank Dr. Jackson for the pivotal role he has played in helping shape Jessup into the institution it is today. His impact will be felt for years to come. Please join us in expressing gratitude for Dr. Jackson, lifting him and his family up in prayer in this next season, and continuing to support the work God is doing at Jessup.
As we move forward, we are confident in the future of Jessup University.
This commitment to you and our mission can be seen and felt every day on campus and online. Our current students remain at the center of that work as they continue their academic journeys, invest in community, and prepare for what is ahead. Faculty and students are actively preparing for summer courses, and planning is well underway for a strong fall semester as enrollment continues to build. Across campus, there is continued momentum in the work of educating and forming the next generation of transformational leaders for the glory of God. We recently hosted Preview Day, welcoming hundreds of prospective students and their families as they consider joining Jessup this fall.
The Board, leadership, faculty, and staff hear you. We remain committed to open communication, to listening well, and to continuing the kind of dialogue that has already begun through recent town halls and conversations across our community.
We are also deeply grateful for our generous donors who continue to invest in this mission and in the lives of our students. Your partnership helps make possible the ongoing work of Jessup and the formation of future leaders.
At Jessup University our promise remains the same: That every student will know the way — to Christ, community, and calling.
Transitions like this are significant, but they also provide an opportunity to move forward with clarity and purpose. Thank you for your continued trust and commitment to Jessup University.
With gratitude,
Bonnie Gore
