Del Webb Foundation Provides Grant for Simulation Labs
The Del E. Webb Foundation awarded Jessup University with a generous grant of $71,000 to help equip the brand-new 6,000-square-foot clinical Simulation Lab of Jessup University’s BSN program, which launched in the spring semester of 2023.
The mission of the Del E. Webb Foundation is to invest in productivity that results in long-term benefits. Believing that investing in results-based programs will impact the future of our society by allowing it to reach its maximum potential, the Del E. Webb Foundation’s grant enables Jessup’s BSN program to purchase necessary equipment including Laerdal SimPads; high, mid, and/or low-fidelity simulation mannequins; beds; and audio-visual equipment.
An Immersive Simulator mannequin named “Luna,” has been purchased with Del E. Webb Foundation grant funds, and provides nursing students with the ability to interact with high-risk newborns and children with acute conditions or specific childhood diseases. Nursing students are involved in specialized skills training with these high-fidelity mannequins under the supervision of expert faculty and simulation lab supervisors.
This equipment, in combination with highly-qualified clinical faculty, creates an exceptional learning environment to assist nursing students achieve their course learning outcomes and prepares them for success in the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) exam in the area of Pediatrics.
Following Del E. Webb’s legacy, the Foundation’s giving is defined by new ideas and innovative adaptations. Investing in results by committing to programs that create or enhance opportunities for permanent improvements, the Del E. Webb Foundation’s grant helps equip Jessup’s simulation lab, which is essential in preparing nursing students for their future careers.
Jessup University offers the only faith-based, four-year BSN program in the greater Sacramento area, creating a new option for nursing education to prospective students within surrounding communities. Jessup University’s nursing degree is offered on campus, for 15-week fall and spring semesters.
