Improving Energy Efficiency and Campus Parking

Our world needs Christ-honoring leaders who are experts in their field, leading with inspiration, innovation, empathy and care. What we do today to change our region, state and nation is up to us. Jessup is focused on quality, affordability, sustainability and transformation. There are a few campus renovations and upgrades in our sights that will address the problems of affordability, campus accessibility, student recruitment, campus beautification and mission sustainability.

Over the last few years, Jessup leadership has researched ways to address these issues using solar energy. Recently, we have been getting closer to deploying plans that will drastically reduce our energy expenses, repair our roofs, beautify the campus entrance, install new electric vehicle (EV) stations, build a new guard station, pave gravel parking lots and upgrade campus-wide lighting to LED efficiency.

Roof Improvement
The Chapel, Athletics and Cafe will renovate their roofs, which will be paid for through our solar incentive program. This project is free to Jessup and addresses a great need.
New Student Recruitment
Jessup has grown dramatically, but we have not expanded our paved parking lots. The front parking lot is the first impression of our University, and new students are more likely to choose Jessup based on their first campus impression. Expanding our paved parking lots will not only increase student recruitment, but also provide much needed parking for our community as a whole.
Affordability
Lower energy costs allow Jessup to keep tuition low, so our graduates leave tethered to their call, not to debt.
Sustainability
Over the next twenty years alone, Jessup will save millions of dollars in energy costs, creating a financial margin for our mission for years to come. The solar project allows us to experience predictive energy costs versus unknown escalating costs from year to year.

When we partner, we start a new chapter for Jessup University and Christ-centered higher education in our region. We have secured around $1 million in solar incentives, but we need $1.4 million to complete the project ($480K for parking, $800K for LED lighting across the campus and $150K for the campus entrance beautification).
