Update #5 Central America C

By | 2025 Teams, Central America C

Hola desde central América ,

Today we started our day learning how to make tortillas with Doña Brenda, who is a lovely lady in the community. It was so fun to learn from her and they were so delicious! After that, our team was able to serve in a couple different ways— building more pilas in the community and making great progress in a library work project at the organization. It is such an amazing thing to be able to bless the communities with building more pilas so that families can store water at their homes. After serving in the morning we had beautiful plates of fajitas made for us by the staff and had a great time sharing stories and experiences of our serving at lunch. After that, the Ellie’s led a lesson on the fruits of the spirit and handling big emotions for the scholars. Danielle then led a devotional for the scholars and blessed them with her words of wisdom on finding strength in hard times. We made lots of great connections with both scholars and staff over dinner and games to end the night. What a blessing this trip has been so far and we cannot wait for the other ways we can continue to serve in this community! Our team is continuing to grow and allow God to work through us and we are so grateful for this time!

Miss you all!!

Xoxo,
Ellie squared (Both Ellie’s)

Update #4 Central America C

Feliz martes a todos!
Our day started off with a birthday serenade in Spanish for Rebekah who turned 23 years old today. We then joined Just One staff and scholars in building two Pilas. These large concrete water tanks are used in Central America as people in this community have limited access to water. Our team also sanded and painted outdoor chairs, benches and tables. We had local enchiladas which in California we call tostadas. Just One also surprised Rebekah with a tres leches birthday cake; everything was muy delicioso. Next, Danielle and Rebekah taught the scholars a lesson on goal setting. The girls did great and the scholars really enjoyed it. We ended the day with sandwiches and games with Just One. We are excited for more serving opportunities tomorrow!

Update #3 Central America C

Hola family and friends!

Day 3 in Central America started off with a wonderful devotional lead by Ellie S. where we humbly prepared ourselves for our first full day of service. We then headed to Just One International where we worked together to plan out the lessons and devotionals we are going to be teaching throughout the next two weeks. We took a break to try the delicious coffee at their cafe which is a staple crop in the area we are serving. It was delicioso! This break was followed by a trip to the organization’s library where we helped to find and organize books. Just One is such a blessing because they house the only library in the community! Because of your generous donations, our team was able to bless the organization with new Spanish books! Our next activity involved preparing and delivering food bags to locals living in extreme poverty. This is a common service Just One provides called the No Hungry Home Walk. We finished the night with dinner, games, and fellowship with the college scholars. Our day was full of blessings upon blessings, and we are so excited for what tomorrow holds.
With Love,
Danielle and Rebekah

Update #2 Central America C

Happy Lords Day! Today we started out with an early morning devotional led by Erin and it was a blessing. We then had a team breakfast. We had such yummy Central American food. Everyone here is so kind and welcoming. From the staff down to the locals. They love hearing us practice our Spanish no matter how little it is. Erin woke up early and went on a run while admiring all of Gods beautiful creation and told us all about it. We went to church as a team where we were met with some of the kindest people ever! We sang Spanish hymns that some of us haven’t heard in a while. The message was such a blessing. After church we headed over to lunch at an amazing restaurant with so much greenery and nature. We were joined by the pastors family and more Just One staff members and scholars! The food was delicious! After lunch we got a tour of the communities that Just One serves works with which included visiting Just One’s facility. We visited their library and coffee shop too. They are such a light and blessing to these communities and are making a big impact in the name of the Lord. It’s amazing how everyone uses their talents to help the organization grow and flourish. After the tour we went back to church to visit Awana, a kids ministry event they do on Sundays. We got to know the kids and play games with them. It was so much fun to see them learn about Christ and the gospel while having a blast. We are so excited to lead this event next week. We ended the night with a yummy dinner at a retro themed cafe before debriefing as a team about the blessings we got today. We are so excited for tomorrow and the work we will be doing.

Update #1 Central America C

By | 2025 Teams, Central America C

Hey friends and families,

While at the airport, we encountered other teams coming from different parts of the US to serve in this Central American country. It’s wonderful to see the outpouring of love for this beautiful country. We arrived at our hotel which is kind of a giant compound and we got settled in. We met the Just One staff and their family then had our first authentic local meal. We are all looking forward to attend church tomorrow, getting a community tour and seeing the Just One facility.

Team Central America C is departing!

Our Central America C team is now on their way to the airport to meet up with the rest of their team and head to Central America! Please pray for the team’s health, safety, and unity as they embark on this trip and submit fully to what the Lord will do through them over the next two weeks!
We will update again when they arrive safely!
