Every mission faces obstacles. Some can be planned for, others take us by surprise. Jessup is no stranger to challenges. Throughout our 81 year history, we’ve encountered challenges in securing the land, finances, and staff needed to accomplish our mission to partner with the church in the education of transformational leaders. While our challenges have changed over the years, Jessup’s response to them has not. We seek God in prayer, in His Word, and in the community of wise counsel built up around this university. God is faithful; He will always provide a way forward in faith.

No one could have anticipated the effect of Covid-19. In an instant, our world changed. With little time to prepare, both mentally and physically, we isolated, praying for the curve to flatten. Discouragement came knocking but we chose not to answer. Instead, we chose to engage with the Father instead of with fear.

Our Father is good. Even in our current challenge, lives are being transformed across Jessup’s student populations. Campus-based and online communities are flourishing. Our faculty and staff have been heroic in their efforts and continue to impact student lives even under the most trying circumstances. Jessup students are flexible, compassionate, and resilient, even during this uncertain and disruptive time. Their character exemplifies the spirit of a transformational leader and a Jessup Warrior.

During this pandemic, Jessup has not sat still. We have moved beyond a reaction to a faith-filled response.

Prayer: Jessup’s Advancement Office recently launched a Care-a-thon and connected over the phone with over 2,000 partners. They discovered the need for prayer was greater than ever. From the loss of jobs and ailing relatives to concerns for the future and more, the advancement team stood with the broader Jessup community in prayer, sharing hope in Christ along the way.

StudentsWe love our students. Our financial aid teams worked around the clock to understand and deliver new aid opportunities to our students through our Tuition Lock Initiative and scholarships.

Events:  Students, staff, and alumni have connected through virtual events. We held our first virtual preview day where we witnessed hundreds of students engaging with Jessup about their futures.

Partnerships – We’re engaging with organizations to bring the value of Jessup education to a wider audience, both online and on-ground.

Open for Opportunity: Jessup is not just a school, we’re a community connected by our love of learning, each other, and our Lord. It is important educationally, socially, and spiritually for us to continue our missional and educational objectives, responsibly working together, face-to-face, and with the highest regard for safety. As we continue to bolster and strengthen our remote learning classes, we look forward to resuming our Fall 2020 campus-based transformational education with the appropriate healthcare protocols.

God doesn’t guarantee a life without challenges but He promises to walk alongside us, giving us this promise in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Jessup is a school of faith and faith in action. We invite you to celebrate, pray, and step forward with us as we continue to do what we have always done, step forward in faith.
