John Richert, Ph.D
- B.S. in Marine Science/Biology from Long Island University in New York
- Ph.D in Marine Ecology from UC Davis
- M.A. in Ministry and Leadership from Sacramento's Western Seminary
John's passion is marine biology. His experience in marine ecology and fisheries has led him to combine scientific research with missions work in Haiti, and he is currently developing a program to survey biodiversity of reef fishes and impacts on fisheries on management in the developing nation. He loves to spark and awaken the wonder of non-science majors through Biology 100 while also inspiring science majors through his other Biology, Environmental Science and online classes.
God has given John a mind for teaching and research, but a heart for discipleship. He believes that there is a responsibility to train the next generation of Christ followers, and WJU provides the ideal opportunity to do so. He is inspired by his four children because it reminds him that every Jessup student is someone's son or daughter, and as a professor he has been entrusted with their training and care both by their parents and out Heavenly Father.
