9-14 Mark Scandrette

September 14th, 2011

Mark Scandrette

has been married to his wife Lisa for twenty years and has three amazing
teenage children. He lives in a vibrant and diverse neighborhood in San
Francisco called the Mission District, where his family has made a life together
over the past 14 years. He is captivated by the revolutionary life and
teachings of Jesus- and devotes much of his time to helping people explore what
it might mean to Practice the Way of Jesus in contemporary society.  In 2000 he cofounded a Center for Life Integration
in San Francisco called ReIMAGINE! They help people take risks to experiment
together with how to integrate the way of Jesus into the details of everyday
life. This often looks like neighborhood serving initiatives, art projects,
hospitality, shared prayer practices and intentional community. I travel and
speak, teaching from our experiences, and often lead retreats and mentor
emerging leaders.

In
2007 Mark wrote a book called SOUL GRAFFITI (Jossey-Bass) which chronicled his
theological reflections and our journey of discovery. He love spending time
with my family and being a part of life in his neighborhood. He enjoys cooking,
travel, art & film, poetry, literature, hiking and cycling. He is an
incurable peripatetic and one of his favorite activities (or obsessions) is
walking, alone or with a friend over many miles talking or listening to the
voice of mystery.

8-31 Francis Anfuso

August 31st, 2011

Francis Anfuso and his
twin brother, Joseph, were born in 1949 in Brooklyn, NY, one year prior to
their father being elected to the first of six terms in the United States
Congress.  But their father’s absorbing career left little time for his
family.  They could merely watch from the sidelines as their Dad’s
attention was wholly given to the work and prestige of being a famous,
influential person.

Though Francis felt lost in his family life and Catholic upbringing, God had
not lost track of him.  His First Communion, at age six, took place on,
May 14, 1955.  Seventeen years later, to the day, Francis received Jesus
as Lord and Savior.  His godly mother’s intercessory prayers had finally
caught up with him.

He became a
born again Christian in 1972 in a little church in Smartsville, California,
where he and his new bride, Suzie, later pastored a Christian community  called Morning
Sta
r.

From 1981 to
1997 Francis had a full time traveling ministry speaking and conducting
training seminars in churches and Christian conferences in 10 nations. He is
the founder of Christian Equippers Int’l and 21st Century
Ministries. He has developed textbooks, booklets, tracts, seminars, music
albums, and training courses for Christians throughout the world.

During their almost twenty years of traveling the
world, Francis and Suzie ministered to thousands of people in hundreds of
churches.  They witnessed healthy churches as well as many unhealthy
churches.  It created in them a hunger for something more.

In 1997, he was sent out as Senior Pastor to establish
The Rock of Roseville (http://www.rockofroseville.org/) outside
of Sacramento, California.  Out of their
travel experiences, they developed the “7 Rock Values,” which exemplify the
values they found in the healthiest churches. Thousands have visited The Rock
and been touched by the Spirit of God and countless lives have been
changed.

Francis and Suzie have been married over 30 years and
have twin daughters, Deborah and Havilah, who have provided their parents with
four wonderful grandchildren!  It is
their joy to serve together as a family in ministering to, loving, and
encouraging God’s people at the rock.

12-1 Darin McWatters

December 1st, 2010

Darin was born in Texas but never really lived there. This is convenient when trying on cowboy hats, because he can claim Texan status without actually having to deal with the baggage that comes along with an actual Texan upbringing (ranching, roping, rustling, and all that jazz).

Darin grew up in Phoenix, AZ where he learned to wear long pants in 120 degree weather, apply sunscreen without blotching, and avoid the dreaded venom of the Gila monster. For a couple of years he lived like a tamborineless gypsy, roaming incessantly back and forth across the highways and byways of America in the band, everybodyduck. Then he did some missions work with mountain people in the Sierra Nevadas, as the Program Director of Hume Lake Christian Camps and founder of the Joshua Wilderness Institute. Now he lives in Long Beach where he still wears long pants and sunscreen but almost never thinks about Gila monsters. He is currently a teaching pastor at First Baptist Church of Lakewood, and weekly host of Frank the Podcast, a humorous and irreverent look at life informed by faith.
