Frequently Asked Questions
Can I register for the Veterans Honor Fun for Everyone Run even if I live far away?
Absolutely! Many people choose to register for the Honor Run to support the cause, but are unable to attend the day of the race. In these cases, we ask for them to register as a virtual participant. If they would prefer to receive a t-shirt, please email the Event Coordinator, Rebekah Buchterkirchen: email@example.com, with their name and mailing address so we may mail a t-shirt to thank them for their support.
When will I receive my racing bib and t-shirt?
If you register before the deadline, we will have multiple race packet pick up days and times the week of the race for you to come and pick up your racing bib and t-shirt beforehand. If none of the days and times listed work well for you, you are encouraged to come early the day of the race to check-in and receive your packet at that time.
Do I get a t-shirt?
If you register before the deadline, you are guaranteed a t-shirt in whatever size you register for. Anyone who registers after the deadline is not guaranteed a t- shirt, but we will be sure to distribute what remaining t-shirts and sizes we have available for day of check-in and any walk-ins.
I see that children 12 and under are free. Do I need to register them?
Children aged 12 and under may participate in the 5K run for free without being registered for the event, but they are not eligible for a free event t-shirt and/or a timing chip. When you register, we ask that you let us know how many children 12 and under will be attending with you.
May I receive a refund if I am unable to make the race?
Since this is a fundraiser for our veteran students on campus, we are unable to offer refunds. However, if you are unable to come to the race after you have already signed up, we would ask for your to consider giving your registration to a friend who may go in your place. If you cannot find anyone to take your place, we will be sure to set aside your t- shirt so you may still receive it later.
Are pets allowed at the run?
We welcome any dogs to join us at the run, but ask that the owner has sufficient clean up products with them, and keeps them on a leash at all times.
Who can participate in the races?
The Veterans Honor Run is a family friendly race that is open to all ages. Wheelchairs, strollers, and dogs are welcomed.
Is the race timed?
Yes! If you registered to receive a race timing bib, it will be handed to you during check-in. Synergy race timing does a wonderful job, and we are sure you will be as impressed with them as we are! Official results and running times will be posted after the race on our Veterans Honor Run website, as well as emailed to all participants the week after the race. However, if you do not register as a timed participant, your time will not be recorded.
Are there prizes for top runners?
Yes! The top three male and female finishers with the best time overall will receive Fleet Feet Gift cards.
What will happen if it rains the day of the race?
We are prepared come rain or shine for the Veterans Honor Run and the race will continue regardless of weather. If it is raining, we encourage all runners to dress appropriately for the weather.
